Ship Loader
Efficient and reliable bulk material handling is critical for smooth port operations. That’s why we provide expertly designed ship loaders that seamlessly integrate with your port infrastructure and ensure optimal performance for your specific requirements.
Reliable performance for high-capacity ship loading

With a focus on efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, FAM ship loaders from BEUMER Group are designed to handle a wide range of applications while minimising operational complexities.
When selecting and designing a ship loader, the quality and properties of the bulk material, local conditions, performance parameters and environmental requirements play a decisive role.
With these aspects in mind, our engineers determine the most effective and cost-efficient handling principle while minimising operational and maintenance requirements. The customised loading system must fit in your port infrastructure and match current and future vessel sizes. Whether it’s coal, aggregates, mineral compounds, or other bulk materials, our ship loading systems deliver robust performance to keep your operations running smoothly.
Different ship loader options to match your requirements
- linear ship loaders
- stationary ship loaders
- mobile ship loaders mounted on rails
- quadrant radial-type ship loaders
- ship loaders with gravity spiral chute for loading bags
Enhanced productivity for mining industries
The minerals and mining industries demand high-performing bulk material handling solutions. Whether you need entire port terminals or a single barge loader – we offer the complete range of required equipment for the mining industry. Besides the conveying technology, we can supply the ship loading technology best suited for your task, be that a quadrant-type ship loader, a travelling ship loader with luffing and slewing gear or a barge loader with a telescopic conveyor.
Optimal ship loading of minerals
For fast ship turnaround, it is optimal for the ship to not be required to move during the loading process. That means that the ship loader must be able to reach the entire length of the ship. This can be achieved by either using quadrant ship loaders with telescopic conveyors or by putting a ship loader on rails, allowing the ship loader to travel along the ship.
To reach the complete width of the ship, either a telescopic boom or conveyor can be used, or a slewing gear can be applied. Depending on the material, also a throw-off belt conveyor can be used. If the vertical movement of the ship (due to the loading process and the tide) is small enough, a vertically fixed boom can be applied. Otherwise, it is necessary that the boom of the ship loader can be lifted.

Mobile ship loaders for versatility
For ports with variable transshipment points, FAM mobile ship loaders offer flexible and efficient solutions.
Feeding of the bulk materials may be continuous (e.g., via belt conveyor system) or discontinuous (e.g. by a mobile truck unloading station or a wheel loader), ensuring uninterrupted material flow.
Different handling capacities, conveying heights and lengths can be combined with other material feeding systems.
- Dust-free and environmentally friendly operation
- High compatibility and flexibility
- Automatic dispatch control
- Comprehensive support
- High throughput rates
Elevate your port efficiency with modern ship loaders
Your port operations demand solutions that ensure reliability and efficiency at every step. FAM ship loaders are engineered with your needs in mind, enabling swift, efficient bulk material handling and paving the way for streamlined operations.
With decades of experience in port technology and bulk material handling, BEUMER Group is your trusted partner for innovative and dependable solutions. Beyond ship loaders, we offer an integrated approach, including conveyor systems, truck loaders, feeders, and also ship unloaders – delivering a complete system that meets all your loading and handling requirements.
Ship Unloaders for Bulk Terminals
A loading and unloading system in a port must be able to handle ships quickly – with minimal dust emissions and without the loss of bulk goods. For bulk materials unloading, two types of handling systems are basically deployed: continuous and discontinuous.

For the discontinuous unloading operation, mainly ship unloaders with rope grabs are used because these machines are very flexible owing to their simply exchangeable grabs of diverse shapes and sizes which facilitates relatively rapid adaptation to the bulk material to be handled.
When small or medium unloading capacities are in place, grab-type unloaders with a movable superstructure and a single-link or double-link luffing boom are used. When high handling capacities are required, grab-type unloaders with rail-mounted portal bridge show the best performance.
